Eoghan Clonan - A Living Word

Daily reflections of a trip to Auschwitz

Dr Tom Clonan (father of Sixth Year student Eoghan) has written a series of reflections on a journey to Auschwitz and Birkenau that they undertook together in July 2019.  Eoghan had major spinal surgery during  Transition Year in St  Andrew's College and was unable to go on his school trip to Auschwitz.  So, in July 2019, Tom and Eoghan drove from Dublin in their wheelchair adapted van, through England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany to Auschwitz.  The reflections bring the listener on the road trip through the 'fairy tale' route through Germany, to a moment of profound revelation for Eoghan in Auschwitz.

The reflections will be broadcast each morning this week, Monday 18th  to Friday 22nd January, on RTE Radio 1 at 0615 and each evening at 0058.  Please tune in.  Holocaust Memorial Day is on Sunday 24th January 2021.
