Group Captain John Hemingway Visit
Wednesday, 13 September was an extraordinary day for the College as we welcomed Group Captain John Hemingway to the school, who at 104 is the oldest surviving member of the St Andrew’s College community. As well as being our oldest alumni, Group Captain John is also the last surviving RAF pilot of the Battle of France and of the Battle of Britain one of “the few”, as Churchill termed the young pilots in his famous 1940 speech. It was fascinating listening to Group Captain John and hearing his story, which was truly extraordinary.
