ST ANDREW'S COLLEGE DUBLIN watermark

Inspiring Curiosity. Encouraging Creativity. Empowering Future Innovators.

We are proud to deliver a rich and dynamic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) programme that sparks curiosity, fosters creativity, and prepares our pupils for the future. STEM learning is woven through our curriculum and school life, encouraging children to explore, investigate, and solve problems in real-world contexts. Throughout the course of the academic year, all children from K1 to P6 engage with STEM through cross-curricular integration and stand-alone STEM lessons, ensuring rich and varied learning experiences at every level.

Our teachers are trained through both the Curious Minds initiative and CreativeHut team, ensuring that our pupils experience hands-on, inquiry-based STEM learning from the earliest years. These nationally recognised programmes support our mission to empower every child to think critically, question deeply, and collaborate meaningfully.

We are proud to offer a dedicated, modern STEM Lab—a space where ideas come to life. Using an engineering design process, children generate solutions to real-life problems through playful experimentation, hands-on investigation, and collaborative thinking. Whether they are exploring circuits, programming robots, or investigating the natural world, our STEM Lab provides opportunities for meaningful, practical learning.

"Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education supports children’s capacity to understand and engage fully with the world around them."
– Primary Curriculum Framework, NCCA

At SACJS, we embrace this vision of STEM.

Some of our STEM highlights:

  • P3 & P4 represent the school at the ESB Science Blast at the RDS, presenting exciting class investigations and learning from schools across the country.

  • P5 & P6 take part in the Primary Science Fair, proudly showcasing their research and inquiry-based projects.

  • P6 students engage in the First LEGO League, applying their coding and engineering skills to real-world challenges using LEGO robotics.

  • Pupils from P3–P6 participate in the STEPS Young Engineers Award, developing their design thinking and understanding of the engineering process.

  • Our Green Team leads whole-school initiatives promoting sustainability, biodiversity, and climate action, in line with the Green Schools programme.

STEM learning at SACJS is not just about knowledge—it's about developing values, attitudes, and skills that will help our pupils contribute meaningfully to society. From climate action projects to digital literacy and design thinking, our pupils learn how to tackle the big questions of tomorrow with confidence and care.

STEM education is about more than subjects—it's about shaping confident, capable learners who are ready to explore and change the world.
