Co-ordinator: Ms Úna Samuels

At SAC AC, we focus on developing individual skills in a social and competitive environment, helping athletes push their limits and achieve their personal best. Training with us will enhance movement patterns, plyometric ability, joint stability, and build the endurance, speed, and power needed for efficient performance.

Our club welcomes athletes interested in sprints, distance running, hurdles, jumps, or throwing events. Training is held three times a week on school grounds, however, further opportunities to visit local state-of-the-art facilities, including UCD’s new track and the National Indoor Arena will arise in the lead up to competition season.

In winter, our focus is to build on strength and endurance of distance, sprint and field athletes and it is during this period that a lot of progress is made. Competitors will also participate in various invitational competitions and championships. Recently, SAC AC athletes have excelled in events like the Leinster Schools Indoor Combined Event, Blackrock Cross-Country Relays, Brother Schools Cross-Country Invitational, and East Leinster Cross-Country Championships. This success has allowed many to compete at provincial and national levels.

During the summer season, our focus shifts to the Track and Field season and where we begin to use our strength and power from winter, to achieve performance goals. Athletes are encouraged to compete in the East Leinster Track and Field Championships, where they will have the chance to progress to the Leinster Championships and potentially the National Championships. This regional competition offers valuable experience and a chance to showcase skills on a larger platform.
