Cello Teacher

Megan Sherwood studied cello with William Butt at the Royal Irish Academy of Music graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and a Diploma in Music Performance and Teaching. She has performed all over the world in various ensembles and orchestras as a freelance musician. Her path has taken her to every state of the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Nigeria and China. She spent three years as solo cellist with the World Billboard Charts number 1 selling group "Celtic Thunder" in the USA and Canada. During this time they performed in sold-out arenas coast to coast most notably at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Megan is a freelance cellist and performs regularly with various string quartets and ensembles for different occasions, functions and corporate events all over Ireland. She is also a member of the Irish Chamber Ensemble and the City of Dublin Chamber Orchestra. Megan regularly performs and records with various popular culture artists and bands such as The Coronas, with whom she collaborated with for over 5 years doing concerts, television sessions, live radio sessions and appearing on Other Voices filmed in Dingle for RTÉ. Other artists Megan has performed with include Kanye West, Duke Special, Jack L, Tom Baxter, Fight Like Apes, Westlife, Il Divo, Katherine Jenkins, José Carreras, Andrea Boccelli, Colm Wilkinson, Enya, Julie Feeney, Ronnie Drew, Sinead O'Connor, Aslan, Daniel O'Donnell, Celtic Thunder, Paul Byrom, Luka Bloom, Phil Coulter, Tommy Fleming, Liam Lawton, Brian Kennedy, Celtic Tenors, Red Hurley, Paul BPtts, Cara Dillon, Vyvienne Long, Jenny Lindfors, Bjorn Baillie. Megan has many years’ experience teaching and currently teaches cello privately. She has taught in St Andrew’s since 2012 as the individual and group cello tutor.
