ST ANDREW'S COLLEGE DUBLIN watermark

My name is Kathy Armitage and I joined SACJS in 2024 teaching P5.

I began my teaching career in 2022, but I’ve been working with children for a long time in a variety of capacities.

Originally from Dublin, I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Sport Science and Health, followed by a First Class Honours in my Master’s in Primary Education. My academic background, along with hands-on experience as a substitute teacher supporting EAL and SFL departments in various schools, has equipped me with a strong understanding of how to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child feels valued.

Fifth Class is a significant year in a child's academic and social development. It’s a time when students begin to take greater ownership of their learning, and my goal is to support and guide them on that journey. Together, we will foster independence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while also identifying how each child learns best. These foundations will help prepare them for the increased responsibility that lies ahead in their school journey.

In addition to my classroom role, I am currently Head of the Student Council, a position I thoroughly enjoy. It’s a wonderful opportunity to empower pupils, promote leadership, and ensure student voices are heard across the school community.

Outside the classroom, I’m passionate about keeping fit through running, going to the gym, and playing sports. I believe in promoting a healthy, balanced lifestyle and often bring that energy into my teaching.

I value strong home-school collaboration and believe communication is key to a successful and supportive learning experience. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns throughout the year—I’m excited to work with you to help your child achieve their full potential.
