Published 21/04/15Congratulations to the Senior Boys Golf Team of Rob Browne, Ziggy de Boe Agnew, Charlie Marshall, Charlie Denvir and Harry Sutton who reached the final of the All-Ireland School Strokeplay Championships beating Calasantius College 4-1 in the semi final. In the afternoon the played RBAI and came agonisingly close to taking the title losing out 3-2 on the first play-off hole. It has been an outstanding season from the side who lifted the Leinster title and went so close to going all the way. Congratulations to all concerned.

Published 21/04/15Congratulations to the St. Andrew's chess team, comprised of Colin Coin, Liam MacGearailt, Ross Beatty and Alice O'Gorman who came joint 2nd in the Inter Schools chess finals last week, with 1st year Colin obtaining the vital win in the final round. Ross won the individual prize and Alice, who placed second in the individual prize, continued on to win best girl.

Published 15/04/15Congratulations to Tom O’Gorman (P6N) on a remarkable performance in winning the Irish U19 chess championships 2015. Aged only 12, Tom is one of the youngest to win the national title since its inception in 1948. Many previous winners have gone on to become Irish Champions, Olympiad team members and International Chess Masters. Tom has been a member of the Irish Glorney-Gilbert team for the past 2 years at U12 and U14. This win boosts his chances of selection for the Irish U19 team this year.
Alice O’Gorman and Ross Beatty are also in the hunt for selection at U19 Girls and U14 respectively. These three, together with Sasha Bistani and Andrew Hamilton represented St. Andrew’s at the Millfield International last October.
The senior school chess club meets Thursday and Friday lunchtimes in room 1.01. The club is looking to field teams in Irish and International schools competitions. Students are encouraged to drop in and give it a go!
