Band Jam
We currently have 4 bands as part of this programme with 8 band members in each band made up of drummers, guitarists, pianists, bass guitarists and singers. The bands meet weekly and perform in their own Christmas and end of year concert. This is a hugely popular programme where children learn to play and perform collaboratively.
Performing Arts Festival
In late January we hold our Performing Arts Festival which is a hugely popular in-house festival incorporating competitions and performances in music, dance and drama. Competitions are judged by professional adjudicators in a very positive but fair way. It’s a fantastic week for the whole school (often the preparation for the Festival is as much, if not more fun, as the events themselves!). The festival culminates in a first placed Prize-winners’ concert on the Friday evening when the overall drama, dance and music cups are awarded.
P6 Musical
The P6 musical is a huge highlight in the music calendar every year. All P6 students take part and are given an opportunity to audition for a variety of parts. Rehearsals take part all year and the musical is performed for 2 nights in the Pavilion Theatre using professional costumes, lights and sound. This is a great experience for the students to learn how to perform in a professional theatre setting and wonderful way for all the students to come together, support each other and in many cases discover hidden talents!
