P5OC

My name is Faye O'Connell Bell, and I teach P5OC in St Andrews Junior school. I joined the school community in 2023 and am delighted to be teaching Fifth Class – a very special year in a child’s educational journey. I love working with this age group as it marks a key transition into the senior end of the school, where children begin to mature, grow in confidence, and develop a greater sense of independence.
Originally from Dublin, I graduated with an Honours Degree in Early Childhood Education from Dublin City University. My teaching experience includes a period abroad in Norway, where I focused on outdoor education and worked with children learning English as an additional language (EAL). Prior to joining the teaching staff here, I also worked as a Special Needs Assistant, an experience that deepened my understanding of inclusive and supportive education.
I currently serve as Head of the Irish Department in the school – a role I am incredibly passionate about. Promoting the Irish language and culture is a core part of my teaching philosophy, and I love creating meaningful opportunities for children to engage with Irish both in and beyond the classroom.
Outside of teaching, I have a huge passion for sport, especially Gaelic football. I was proud to play for the Dublin Ladies Senior Team and now continue to enjoy playing with my home club. Sport has taught me the value of teamwork, resilience, and commitment – values I bring into my classroom every day.
I am committed to supporting every child in a way that ensures they feel safe, respected, and heard. I also strongly believe in the importance of open and positive communication between home and school. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if there is anything you would like to discuss – I am always happy to chat.
