Success at SciFest

Seven St Andrew's College students took part in a SciFest Regional Competition at TUD (Technological University Dublin), Kevin Street on Friday 5 April with the following projects:

Second Year Students:  
Zoe O'Meara  Are fruit flavoured drinks better for you?
Karl Moran The effect of different colas on your teeth.
Sophie Green  How much water do we waste while showering?
Timothy Celano  Where is the best place to sit on an aeroplane?
Daniel Branigan  Is nettle fertiliser better than commercial fertilisers?
Fifth Year Students:  
Isabel Schmidt & Michael Rooney A study of HIV entry inhibitors.

Zoe O'Meara and Karl Moran won commendation awards for their well researched projects.  Sophie Green won the ISTA Award (Irish Science Teachers' Association) and Timothy Celano won the Institute of Physics Award.
