Reading Challenges!

Miss Ryan throws down the gauntlet for 1st and 2nd Year Students

Did you set yourself any goals for 2016?

Do you want to read more, try new genres outside your comfort zone, get through a classic novel or two or diversify your reading?

YES?

Then, it’s time to start some 2016 reading challenges!!

Now’s the time to read all those books you said you  would, but haven’t got around to yet.

There are many reading challenges out there, but at St Andrew’s,  our Librarian Miss Ryan, is encouraging our 1st and 2nd year students to take up the Gold, Silver and Bronze Reading Challenges.  Details of each award are attached for your information and interest.

1st year students can take up the Bronze and Silver challenges

2nd year students can challenge themselves by pursuing the Gold Award.

The challenges have to be completed in the current school year.

The thing about reading is that even though you love it, it can be easy to let it fall by the wayside. We lead busy lives.  School, homework and sport takes up much of our time.  There aren’t enough hours in the day for reading and it's so easy to stop whatever we’re doing to realize we haven't read a book for pleasure in a while.

Miss Ryan hopes the three challenges walk a good line between being very specific and giving students plenty of scope in what they choose to read.

No matter which challenge you accept, always remember that Miss Ryan is here to help you make great reading choices.

Take up a reading challenge and fall in love with reading!
