1st History Trip to Newgrange
Over the course of this week all 1st year classes will go on a field trip to Newgrange. The bus will leave the school at 9.00 and return by 4.00pm. All students should wear practical clothing. As part of the 1st History curriculum, students are required to study Ancient Ireland. Newgrange is the best example of the Neolithic or New Stone Age period. It was constructed over 5,000 years ago, making it older than Stonehenge in England and the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. It is hoped that the students will get a real sense of what living in Ancient Ireland was like as a result of their trip. |
