Group 4: Special Prizes
These are awarded to students for individual or group achievements in various areas. Criteria are set by appropriate staff members who are also responsible for nominating suitable recipients. Relevant criteria are as follows:

EFL Prizes
Awarded to one junior and one senior EFL student on the basis of demonstrated progress in this area, as determined by the EFL Coordinator and EFL Teachers.

The Harrison Cup for Enterprise
Awarded to an individual or group for special achievement in an enterprising activity (e.g. the TY 'mini-company') as adjudged by the staff of the Business Department and other relevant staff (as determined by the Business Department).

The Tish Parsons Prize
Awarded to a First or Second Year student who is adjudged by members of the Irish Department to have won the 'Comortas Tish Parsons', in which candidates are required to submit a project (internally assessed) which contributes to the promotion of the Irish language or some other aspect of Irish culture.

Transition Year Prize for Proficiency in Spoken Irish
This prize for proficiency in spoken Irish is awarded to the student who achieves the highest grade in the viva voce examination conducted in Irish by an external examiner for the fainne award.

The Ingram Prize for English Essay
A prize for creative writing open to all age groups (assessed externally). Organised by English Department Coordinator in conjunction with the English Department. More than one prize may be awarded.

The Bradbury Prize for Use of English
Awarded to one or more Third Year students who have consistently demonstrated a high standard in the use of the English language. To be adjudicated by the third year teachers, and the English Department Coordinator

The Irish Management Institute Award
Awarded to one or more senior students for excellence achieved in the study of senior cycle business subjects. Eligibility will be determined by Business Studies staff and the Business Coordinator on the basis of Leaving Certificate/International Baccalaureate results plus departmental assessment of work done during the course.

Special Achievement in Modern Languages
Awarded to students who have achieved a grade A (A1/A2) in two or more modern languages in the Leaving Certificate or Grade 6 or 7 in the International Baccalaureate examinations.

PTA Prize for Mathematics
Awarded to First Year students who achieve a set target score in the final of the Irish Maths Teachers Association Competition for First Year Students. (More than one prize may be awarded). Organised by the Mathematics Coordinator

Home Economics Junior Award
Awarded to one or more students in the Junior Certificate year on the basis of a project submitted on the optional area of the course and assessed internally. Awarded by the Home Economics teachers and the Coordinator of Home Economics.

Wilson Cup for Classics
Awarded to students in any year who have shown the most interest in and made a significant contribution to Classical Studies. Awarded by the Classical Studies teachers and the Coordinator of Classical Studies

Religious Studies Awards
Awarded to Second Year students who achieve a set target as determined by the RS teachers and the Coordinator of RS on the basis of performance in end-of-year Religious Studies exam (internally and externally assessed).
