EFL Department
St. Andrew's College recognises that students for whom English is a second language have special educational needs and therefore the English as a Foreign Language Department was set up.
EFL stands for English as a Foreign Language and it can also can be referred to as ESL, English as a Second Language.
The EFL Department works exclusively for and with students who are not native English speakers.
Objective
The EFL Dept. seeks to teach English to foreign students in addition to providing pastoral support and assistance to international students through assessment, secialist tuition and comprehensive liaison with parents, year heads, form and subject teachers.
Students of all ages and with any level of English can benefit from EFL classes. EFL classes and related source material are specifically for international students, in contrast to all the other subjects, which are aimed at native English speakers.
In St. Andrew's College, we cater for all foreign students from the beginner who has never studied English before, to those who have attended bilingual schools and are almost fluent.
